Welcome to St Luke's!

About us

St Luke’s, Cockatoo is a growing and vibrant church that is nestled in the eastern part of the Dandenong Ranges on the outskirts of Melbourne. Built soon after the Ash Wednesday bushfires, the church meets in a mud brick building that reflects its surroundings. The church is a gospel based church which has a heart for community outreach and care.

Made up of people of all ages, St Luke’s is a church that follows Jesus Christ passionately and seeks to connect people with Him and each other. St Luke’s continues to build towards being a church growing in the community, reflecting, serving and transforming it, for the good of the world. We have a strong emphasis on looking after people from all walks of life as they face lifes challenges. We encourage people to grow through the experiences of life with the care and encouragement of others and the faithfulness of God. We are a church that is continually reminded again and again that we exist primarily for the people who are not our members and this keeps us focused on mission as our primary reason for being. Join us at our service or program of activities.

We would love to welcome you at St Luke’s, Cockatoo.

Our Staff

The Reverend Owen Prout is the Senior Pastor of St Luke’s and his passion is to see people transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is married to Lynda (who heads up the major outreach mission at St Luke’s) and has three children – Stephen, Emily and Hannah. He is a keen St Kilda supporter so therefore understands the disappointments of life very well!

My name is Caleb Lobbe and I have the pleasure of being the Youth & Young Adults Pastor at St Luke’s, Cockatoo.

I am passionate about working with people and have a background working with kids and youth in various domains of employment and volunteering such as School Camps, Sports Coaching, Beach Missions, teaching, travelling to third word countries and more.

I have recently finished a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education and am excited to be a qualified teacher.

After 3 years working part time as Youth pastor at St Luke’s, it is a privilege to have had my position extended to 4 days a week as Youth & Young Adult Pastor.

I am currently serving as the Chaplain at the Emerald cricket Club for the 2018/19 season, the same club I played my first game for when I was 8 years old.

I have a strong sense that God has used my various experiences working with young people over the past 6 years and my previous part time ministry study to equip me for this role as at St Luke’s.

I am passionate about walking alongside people wherever they are at in their life journey, and I am privileged to have an opportunity to share life and faith with all people who walk through the door at St Luke’s.

Hope to see you at a Luke’s Place event soon!

Blessings,

Caleb Lobbe
